Each card in Key of Ijzeria is one of six possible "keys".

The six keys are water, air, fire, earth, light, and shadow (or WAFELS for short!).

The first four keys correspond to the four natural elements, water for change, air for absence, fire for energy, and earth for substance.

The last two keys represent the human elements. Light is the power of unity and community, while shadow is the power of individuality and inner strength.

Each key of cards has a different feel and playstyle.

So in this way, they are not "keys" that you turn to open a door, but rather like musical keys, that you build upon as you dance and sing.

Water is the key of change.

Water cards are indigo. These cards focus on turning the tides of battle by changing the flow of combat and manipulating all manner of resources to fit their own designs.

Air Net.png

Air is the key of absence.

Air cards are blue. These cards focus on removing the ability to inflict suffering, as well as preventing conflict from escalating. They win through unconventional means, and challenge both the player and the opponent to find different ways to achieve victory.

Fire Burst.png

Fire is the key of energy.

Fire cards are red. These cards focus on rushing the opponent down with relentless onslaughts. Their devastating spell power beats opponents into submission, and their attacks always keep opponents on their toes.

Earth Chip.png

Earth is the key of substance.

Earth cards are green. These cards focus on gathering energy and information until the time is right. Waiting for the perfect moment to awaken and unleash their unchallenged might, earth cards are often devastating, and always impressive.

Light Pyramid.png

Light is the key of the many.

Light cards are yellow. These cards focus on building something from nothing. Whether it’s a great hero arising from the ashes of a destroyed village, or a radiant army coming to quell the rise of evil, these cards represent the power of the many, overcoming the one.

Shadow Links.png

Shadow is the key of the self.

Shadow cards are purple. These cards focus on victory at any cost. They focus on exploration, expansion and exploitation. They employ the unsavoury strategies, the dark magics and the underhanded tactics. They’re about personal goals, individual achievements, and the removal of anyone who would stand in their way.
